As the evenings draw in and retailers prepare for another busy Autumn and Winter trading period, Argenbright Security Europe Ltd (ASEL) is once again launching its Darker Nights Action (DNA) Campaign, providing additional support to retail clients and colleagues during the darker months.
The campaign reinforces ASEL’s commitment to creating safe, secure and welcoming environments for customers, store teams and security colleagues. As reduced daylight hours can increase concerns around colleague safety, anti-social behaviour and store closures, DNA focuses on delivering visible support and reassurance where it matters most.
Throughout the campaign, ASEL’s leadership and operational management teams will be visiting retail locations across the UK, providing an enhanced presence during key trading periods and supporting colleagues during opening and closing procedures. By working alongside store teams and on-site security officers, the initiative helps strengthen communication, share best practice and ensure colleagues feel supported during some of the most challenging months of the year.
The darker months can present a number of challenges for retailers and their teams. Reduced daylight hours, seasonal events and increased customer activity can contribute to a rise in anti-social behaviour, particularly around store entrances, car parks and closing times. Colleagues can also feel more vulnerable when opening or closing stores during the hours of darkness.
Through DNA 2026, ASEL is taking a proactive approach to supporting its customers and colleagues by increasing management visibility, engaging directly with frontline teams and reinforcing the importance of colleague safety across its retail portfolio.
A key element of the campaign is the delivery of Darker Nights Support Visits, where ASEL managers will attend selected locations to provide a visible presence and additional reassurance for colleagues. These visits offer an opportunity to engage with store teams, discuss local challenges and identify ways to further enhance safety during the darker nights period.
The campaign is built around a simple principle: reassurance through presence. By being visible, accessible and actively engaged with colleagues on the ground, ASEL’s leadership teams can better understand the realities faced by retail workers while demonstrating their ongoing commitment to colleague wellbeing.
At the heart of DNA 2026 is a commitment to partnership. By working closely with customers, colleagues and local communities, ASEL aims to help create safer retail environments where people feel supported, valued and secure.
As the retail sector enters one of its busiest periods of the year, the Darker Nights Action campaign serves as a reminder that safety remains a shared responsibility. Through proactive engagement, visible leadership and a continued focus on colleague wellbeing, ASEL will once again be standing alongside its customers throughout the Autumn and Winter months.
