New Crime Deterrent Partnership Launched in Liverpool

ASEL Partners with SelectaDNA, Liverpool BID Company, Merseyside Police and Iceland in Innovative Crime Deterrent Initiative

ASEL is proud to announce an exciting new partnership with SelectaDNA, Liverpool BID Company, Merseyside Police, and Iceland to enhance frontline security and support crime prevention in Liverpool city centre.

Over recent weeks, members of the guarding operations pillar have been working closely behind the scenes to finalise this collaborative initiative, which was introduced through our close working relationship with Liverpool BID Company and Merseyside Police.

At the heart of the partnership is the rollout of SelectaDNA Offender Marking Spray, a water-based spray containing synthetic DNA that is visible under UV light. The spray allows trained officers to discreetly mark offenders during an incident, enabling police to identify them post-event. It offers a safe, effective way to deter criminal behaviour and strengthen evidence gathering.

A key milestone was the successful delivery of a training session at the Marriott Hotel, supported by Liverpool BID Company and SelectaDNA. Iceland officers completed the training alongside ASEL managers who undertook the train-the-trainer module, ensuring the sustainability of the programme through in-house refresher training going forward.

We were also delighted to welcome key stakeholders from Iceland, who have supported the initiative from its inception. Their presence and backing underlined the value Iceland sees in the use of SelectaDNA as an added deterrent to protect officers, staff, and customers in their stores.

Over the coming weeks, our operations team will be hand-delivering equipment to stores across the region. This ensures both staff and store managers are confident in the spray’s purpose, its safe use, and appropriate storage and handling procedures.

This partnership represents a significant step forward in smart security solutions, and we’re excited to see the positive impact it will have across the Liverpool area.
