Dedicated Street Teams
ASEL deploy business wardens to BIDs who are supported by complementary technology and provide a reassuring, uniformed presence.
Business Improvement Districts across the UK are under growing pressure to reduce anti-social behaviour (ASB), support businesses, and create safer, more vibrant urban centres. ASEL delivers a modern, intelligence-led solution combining highly trained street teams, real-time security operations centre (SOC) support, and our cutting-edge Argus Vizion facial recognition technology to target persistent offenders, protect levy payers, and measurably improve safety and confidence.
At ASEL we work with BIDs to provide a visible, reassuring presence that helps create safer and more welcoming environments. By combining proactive engagement with real-time intelligence and responsive support, we help towns and cities thrive for businesses, residents, and visitors.
ASEL’s Business Improvement District services are built on a clear and uncompromising vision – urban centres deserve more than visibility patrols, they require intelligence-led, professionally governed, and outcomes-focused safety solutions. Our approach is grounded in a deep understanding of the complex risk environment faced by modern town and city centres, balancing crime reduction, public reassurance, business confidence, and community wellbeing. We design BID services as an integrated system, not a collection of isolated activities, ensuring every intervention is purposeful, measurable, and aligned to the BID’s strategic objectives.
What sets ASEL apart is our depth of expertise. We are not a guarding company that “also does BIDs”; we are specialists in urban-centre risk, antisocial behaviour, and business crime management. Our leadership team includes nationally recognised practitioners in policing partnership, intelligence management, safeguarding, and data-led security operations. This expertise translates directly into higher quality decision-making, safer interventions, stronger partnerships with police and local authorities, and demonstrable reductions in harm and disorder.
Every ASEL Street Team member completes an intensive, bespoke one-week induction programme prior to deployment, significantly exceeding industry norms. This exclusive training is purpose-built for Business Improvement District environments and is delivered through a structured modular framework covering urban risk awareness, antisocial behaviour prevention, advanced de-escalation techniques, safeguarding, evidence handling, intelligence reporting, and professional business engagement. This is not generic SIA refresher training; it is a rigorous operational foundation that ensures our teams are deployment-ready, confident, and fully aligned to the BID’s values and operating model from day one.
In addition to the core induction, ASEL provides enhanced specialist training rarely found in the BID sector. This includes the lawful use of mechanical restraints where applicable, extended conflict management, applied law relevant to urban-centre operations, professional statement writing and evidential standards, Mental Health First Aider accreditation, accredited customer-service qualifications, and comprehensive training in Data Protection and Information Governance. Together, this creates a highly skilled, professionally governed Street Team capable of operating safely, lawfully, and effectively in complex urban environments.
ASEL is one of the few providers to embed the Level 4 Anti-Social Behaviour and Community Safety Apprenticeship into its BID operating model. This programme professionalises the role of the Street Team, providing nationally recognised qualifications, deep subject-matter knowledge, and a clear career pathway. For BIDs, this means higher retention, more capable practitioners, and a consistently improving service, not a revolving door of undertrained personnel.
At the heart of our BID service sits ASEL’s Security Operations Centre (SOC). Unlike traditional providers, our Street Teams are never isolated or unsupported. The Street Team are the boots on the ground, visible, engaged, and proactive, while the SOC acts as the contact, coordination, and intelligence centre behind them. The SOC triages information, identifies patterns, manages tasking, supports live incidents, and ensures intelligence is shared appropriately with partners. This symbiotic relationship transforms patrol activity into intelligence-led action.
This integrated Street Team–SOC model allows ASEL to move beyond reassurance patrols and deliver genuine impact. Incidents are not just dealt with; they are analysed. Information is not just recorded; it is turned into actionable intelligence. Resources are not deployed evenly; they are directed where risk and harm are greatest. The result is a BID service that is demonstrably more capable, more responsive, and more effective than traditional models.
In an environment of increasing complexity, scrutiny, and expectation, BIDs need partners who understand governance, risk, data protection, partnership working, and operational delivery at scale. ASEL’s BID service is designed for this reality combining people, intelligence, training, and technology into a single, coherent operating model. This is not business as usual. It is a step change in what a BID street service can and should be.
ASEL is a CSAS-accredited provider, recognised by the police under the Police Reform Act 2002 to deliver enhanced community safety services within Business Improvement Districts. This accreditation allows our BID teams to operate with defined, lawful powers, giving them greater authority, credibility, and effectiveness than traditional security or ambassador models. For levy payers, this means stronger deterrence, faster intervention in anti-social behaviour and low-level crime, improved intelligence sharing with local police, and a visible presence that businesses and the public can trust.
