I’m still reflecting on our recent Drone & Wireless Alarm System Protection Device (WASP) demo.
Retail Risk – On The Move was one of those exciting moments in tech deployment where everything comes together after months (if not years!) of work…
The WASP triggered, the drone launched, and within seconds we had a full thermal and standard video feed covering the incident zone.
It was a calm, coordinated, hands-off response, and proof that our systems are finally where they need to be.
Over 50 people came to the roundtable and saw the live demo unfold in real time. No back-up plans needed, no behind-the-scenes scramble. We even flew a test circuit beforehand, just to be sure.
And because our beyond visual line of sight (BVLoS) methodology is now signed off, there was no need for complex approvals. Just a copy-and-paste of the existing framework, ready to roll again for Retail Risk – Leicester next month.
That rollout includes two live formats: BVLoS with visual mitigation (i.e. someone trained on site keeping eyes on the drone), and BVLoS without any visual mitigation at all, used in atypical air environments.
We’re already flying the visual mitigation model at Team Valley, which is in the top 3 commercial parks in Europe, and the hardware for the fully A-Typical (non-visual observer) model should be finalised within the next four to six weeks.
Once it is, we’ll be live on three additional sites.
All of this means faster evidence collection, quicker verification, and smarter escalation with zero time wasted waiting for a guard to get eyes on the scene.
One of the most exciting developments this week was a site survey for a massive 3.5km-radius area that’ll soon be monitored using fixed cameras, radar, and drone patrols triggered by on-site sensor activity. It’s proactive, not reactive. And it’s designed to intercept threats long before they get anywhere near a building.
Meanwhile, our two-way audio product is being finalised for its official launch at Retail Risk – Leicester, and a new ASEL project is nearly ready to go public. That one’s still under wraps, but let’s just say it’ll add another layer to how we verify and respond to perimeter threats.
So we’re primed and ready to dive straight into a run of major shows, including Solar & Storage, CBRE, UK Construction Week, and another round of Retail Risk. No slowing down in sight…
