Event season has finally landed…

Another wedding is officially ticked off and I’m recovered from the big cycle.

So I did what any rational person would do…

I went back into the gym for my first proper leg session in months.

It felt fine at the time… but by the next day I was walking like I’d borrowed someone else’s knees. I’ll be doing the same again this weekend. Apparently I don’t learn.

This week, we were at Retail Risk – On The Move and event season is now in full swing.

My round table drew a crowd, quite literally! Massive thanks to everyone who came along and contributed. It sparked genuinely insightful conversations and was a reminder that innovation doesn’t mean anything unless you can actually apply it to real-world risk.

We also unveiled a new modular addition to our WASP system (that’s Wireless Alarm Site Protection Device for the uninitiated). It’s got smoke. Literally…

We’ve fitted a discreet smoke module to add a physical deterrent, especially for high-value sites that are locked down over Christmas.

So if you walked past one of our perimeter triggers at the event, you may have heard a polite voice say something like: “Your presence has triggered an automated drone response.”

That was the WASP. Watching. And yes, that voice does sound familiar… we’ll let people figure it out for themselves!

Behind the scenes, we’ve been working on all the documentation needed to fly drones beyond visual line of sight (BVLoS) at events. This will allow us to demonstrate real-time, hands-off responses to potential threats using automated patrols and intelligent escalation. It’s a big step, especially as we roll that framework into wider deployments with atypical air environments.

I’ve got a week to finally breathe coming up in Lindos in Rhodes. I’m manifesting nothing but heat, naps, and maybe one or two lazy swims. It’ll be my first real downtime since April.
But straight after that it’s go-time again as we have four events in the week between 24 September and 2 October. It’s going to be a week of calendar madness and caffeine. But we’re ready.

Because while weddings are lovely and gym DOMS are humbling, there’s nothing quite like watching your tech speak for itself. Especially when it’s politely informing people they’ve triggered a drone.
